4 ways to regain access to your Facebook ad account

Sometimes Facebook restricts ad accounts for incorrect, vague, or unknown reasons. A business owner is left to figure out how to create new ads when their ad account is frozen.

A common question I get from my clients experiencing this difficulty is something to the effect of:

“We are running into an issue with Facebook regarding our advertisement account that got disabled. We contacted Facebook but they won’t answer.

Because of this, we are locked out and unable to post Facebook advertisements for good. Are you familiar with this and can you give any feedback if you have?”

Here is the thought process and steps that can help you regain access to your Facebook ad account.

1. Check if other personal Facebook accounts are connected to the business page you want to run ads for.

Your personal Facebook page is connected to your business page. You have to log into your personal Facebook page to access your business page. That is why personal Facebook pages are part of the equation.

If Facebook continues to restrict your personal Facebook account, you may have to connect a different personal Facebook account to the business page you want to run paid ads for.

Ask yourself this question: are there other personal Facebook accounts that have admin access to the business page & ad account? If so, you may be able to manage the business page & ad account through those personal Facebook accounts.

2. Try adding a new personal Facebook account to the business page you want to run ads for.

Go into your business page, & add a different personal account as the admin of the business page.

If you had a second personal Facebook profile, add that one.

Again, you have to log into your personal Facebook account to access your business page.

If you create a new personal Facebook account, name it something to the effect of “[insert your first name] Page,” & add that personal account as an admin on your business page. Then add that personal Facebook account to the ad account. Log in to the newly created personal Facebook account to see if you can run ads on the business page.

3. Try running ads in the new ad account.

Using that new ad account, you have to re-create the ads & enter the payment information.

Facebook may withhold certain features from the ad account for a set period of time. For example, they may withhold the ability to upload a customer list for targeting.

4. Submit a request to get your original, personal Facebook account reinstated.

Another option is to get Facebook to reinstate the personal account back into good standing.

Facebook may want you to send them identification documents.

a) Submit your identification information by visiting this link: https://www.facebook.com/id/hub

Facebook says that you should “make sure your ID matches the full name of your Facebook profile.”

b) If that works, great. Otherwise, create a developer account by visiting this link: https://developers.facebook.com/

Bringing it all together:

Here are different troubleshooting methods to implement in an attempt to regain access to your Facebook ad account. The worst-case scenario is that you create a new personal Facebook page with a new ad account, connect them to your business page, re-enter your payment information, & re-build your ads.
