Each year, digital search engines process approximately 2.2 trillion search queries. Google processes 8.5 billion searches every day. Let’s review how your business can increase the chances of reaching potential customers searching for your product or service.
1. Address the rise of AI-powered search responses.
Artificial intelligence continues to power search engine responses. This development is another sign that you should create intent-driven, high-value blog posts and web pages with keywords strategically placed inside them. Make your web pages relevant and interesting enough that the artificial intelligence program would want to reference your website in its automated response to the person searching for information.
Ask yourself, “What would my potential customer search for online?” Next, write articles or publish related web pages to attract potential customers. For example, if you are an orthodontic practice, you can write blogs about “how to choose the best orthodontist,” “what to look for when choosing an orthodontist,” or “what questions to ask an orthodontist to see if they are a good fit for you.”
2. Make sure your website has “strong vital signs.”
Similar to vital signs for the body, Google prefers websites that have good “web vitals” like fast page loading speed, visual stability, which is how much a website’s layout moves while it is loading, and interactivity, which is how quickly a website responds to a user’s action like a click or tap. Ensuring your website is mobile-friendly is also beneficial for your SEO strategy because some of your visitors, often more than half, look at your website on their phones.
3. Write informative material tailored for voice search.
As of this year, approximately 20.5% of people worldwide perform voice searches. They talk to Siri, Google, or another voice assistant to get their question answered or learn about a specific topic.
Create a section on your website that highlights frequently asked questions you receive. Some search engines may advise that you “incorporate natural language into your content.” That approach means writing in a conversational tone, communicating clearly, and avoiding complicated technical jargon.
If you have a podcast, consider transcribing your episodes because the tone of your podcast episodes can translate into highly readable, conversational material.
4. Craft your bio, highlighting your “experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness,” otherwise known as Google’s E-E-A-T formula.
When you write a blog post or an informative article, include your bio at the end, highlighting your experience and credibility. Google reports that their “systems aim to prioritize information that seems most helpful,” and they “determine which content demonstrates aspects of experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness, or what Google calls E-E-A-T.”
List how the reader can benefit from working with you, the types of clients that you work with, your career achievements, conferences you have spoken at, publications you write for, awards you have won, and end with a call-to-action such as visiting your website or emailing you for more information.
5. Create videos for your website and YouTube channel.
Web pages with videos are 53 times more likely to rank on Google’s first page of search results than web pages without videos.
If you publish videos on your YouTube channel, your videos may appear in the videos section of Google’s first-page search results.
For extra effect, if you put the transcription of your video on the web page with the video, you can increase the page’s readability, viewability, and overall appeal. Different people consume material in various formats.
